Pets can help comfort young children in uncomfortable situations. They will make them feel safe and secure if they are feeling scared, lonely, or sad. In addition, they have a playmate!

Also, pets can teach kids responsibility by ways of walking a dog, cleaning the cat liter, cleaning out the fish bowl/tank, and/or feeding the pet.

Service dogs can be both a guard dog and friendly friend to outsiders when they are off duty. I mentioned above that pets can help soothe and/or eliminate PTSD symptoms, Click Here to view a previous blog, “What do you know about PTSD?”, to learn more about the relationships between PTSD and service dogs.
